Although Shazam! still played on the tropes of what gamers are, they did it tactfully and with respect. However, it would be an injustice to not talk about how games have become a mainstream entertainment medium, and how far gaming as a culture has come in popular media. The magic of Shazam! lies in its relatable characters and great storytelling. The premise might sound cheesy, but it is perhaps one of the most relatable and cognizant superhero movies of its time. Shazam! follows a young boy, Billy Batson, as he gains magical powers and transforms into a superhero to fight evil.

That said, given the anger often associated with DLC that is announced ahead of a game's release, expect Shazam to be a core roster character fully-playable out the gate.DC’s latest superhero movie dropped earlier this month, and it was electric. At this point, it's still unclear how the character will fit into the game's DC comic-like storyline as well as whether or not Shazam will be playable when the title launches on April 16, 2013.
